Although I plan to spend this winter or longer in DC, one of my long-term aspirations
— hence the name of this blog! — is to return to New Mexico to catalyze and lead
a cooperative movement of young sustainable farmers and community food activists,
along with older allies and mentors, working together to connect, inspire and empower
the next generations of sustainable agriculture in urban, rural and native New Mexico!
In 2007, I apprenticed full-time with a biodynamic CSA farm located in the semi-rural
South Valley of Albuquerque, NM; and throughout 2008 I volunteered in the field to help
expand another South Valley community farm, led by a Chicano youth empowerment group
Meanwhile, I coordinated and participated in events throughout New Mexico to engage many
other young people with the joys and opportunities of local sustainable food movements…
